God IS the Hammer

There’s a personal injury attorney in Houston known as the “tough, smart lawyer.” His ads on TV refer to him as the ‘Texas Hammer,’ because he’s seen with a huge sledge hammer. Online, he’s said to be the lawyer who will fight for you, which might account for his undefeated record. There is Another who will fight for you, someone who is also undefeated…it’s God. He has no fancy TV ads or online presence, but His record is undisputed and His references are plentiful.

When we are hurting, we build walls to protect ourselves, but sometimes the very ones who could help us can’t penetrate that wall. It may start small, but as we continue to stew in our anger or allow hurt to magnify to resentment, we build a wall, one brick at a time and each brick represents another sin…pride, bitterness, or unforgiveness. When we’re in public, we try to green-screen our wall so that all appears to be good and people see what you want them to see; but inside, you know you’re trapped.

Once we’ve built the walls, we encapsulate ourselves without any tools to break out. The only way to escape is to call out to the ‘Texas Hammer.’ (For anyone not in Texas, be assured He may be based here, but His services are worldwide. LOL!) God is the only tough one out there who can break through that wall. And even if it took you days, months, or even years to build it, He can tear that wall down at the mention of His name. Operators are standing by…He’s waiting for you to call out to Him.

Psalm 50:15 “And call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” If you watch the Texas Hammer commercial, he speaks in a loud, gruff voice. When you’re trapped in your self-made tomb, you have to get serious…by that I mean, your call better come from the gut; you have to mean it and believe that He’s going to hear you and respond. Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.”

We’ve all suffered personal injury but we don’t always need a lawyer for that. Sometimes, a call to our Heavenly Father is all we need to recuperate.
