I’m Just a Nobody…And Proud of It!
A while back, I wrote a HOPE Note about being a “whosoever,” speaking of John 3:16 which says, “God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” There’s a song out by Casting Crowns called, “I’m Just a Nobody.” The song talks about Moses having stage fright…a funny way to say that he stuttered, and how David came to a sword fight with a rock. They sing how these two, along with others and twelve disciples no one else would have chosen, changed the world.
The chorus sings, “I’m just a nobody, trying to tell everybody all about Somebody who saved my soul.” It takes humility to admit that you’re a nobody…oh, that doesn’t mean you aren’t somebody and that you aren’t important or don’t matter; it simply means that you understand enough about your heavenly Father to know that without Him, you’re nothing. We also need to remember that God can use ANYBODY, so you don’t have to be perfect or get right before God can use you. He wants to dwell in us and shine His light through us so that when people look at us, all they see is Jesus. Our lives should be a living legacy, not to our own works, but to His grace and perfect love for us.
We all have a God-given purpose and Satan is on a mission to talk you out of it by asking you “who do you think you are?” You can just answer him by saying, “I’m just a nobody, trying to tell everybody all about Somebody who saved my soul.”
