Let Your Morning Change Your Mourning
Because we speak it, it’s hard to believe, but the English language is said to be one of the hardest languages to learn. We have words that can be a noun or a verb, like cook; our language has words that sound the same, but are spelled differently and have different meanings, like break and brake. Another example are the words morning and mourning. Both completely different, but I see a connection in God’s word.
Going by the clock, at 12:00 AM it is “morning,” but it’s still dark outside. However, depending on the season, within a few hours the sun will rise and shine. When we have suffered great loss, we may be “mourning” and find ourselves in a dark place, a sea of despair and grief. Lamentations 3:22-23 tells us that God’s mercies are new every morning. Every day is a chance to do better, feel better…be better.
You may be in a dark place, but morning is coming. Ecclesiastes 3:4 says there is a time to mourn and a time to dance. This tells me that we don’t have to suffer forever; we can anticipate morning, the Son rising and giving us light and a hope for a better day. May the Son shine on you today, with fresh mercy to handle the day with grace.
