Broken’s Not Bad

Broken's Not Bad.jpg

Have you ever used a glass that looked fine, but after setting it down and picking it back up, you notice a small water ring on the table? You can’t see the crack, but it’s there, somewhere, and it’s just enough to allow the liquid to escape.

We’ve all been broken in this life. For some, the brokenness is obvious, but for many of us, we may appear fine on the outside, but we have small cracks and eventually, whatever is inside of us will begin to leak out.

I recently heard that Satan’s greatest secret weapon is a wedge. When your cracks are oozing resentment, anger, or unforgiveness, the devil uses his secret weapon to make a way into your spirit, where he can widen those cracks, making you more bitter, indignant and resentful.

Instead, when we experience things in life that leave us broken, we need to remember what God promises to His children. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My strength is made perfect in weakness.” If Jesus dwells within us, and He is made stronger in our weakness, our brokenness, doesn’t that mean we become stronger too in our infirmities?

When we’re broken and allow God to have His way in us, all that seeps out of our cracks is the light within us. A light that shines bright for all to see, a light that will draw others in so that maybe they will want the light of Christ to dwell in them too. 2 Cor. 12:9 goes on to say, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
