Reveal to Heal

A young lady that graduated with my son posted on Facebook a while back that she was choosing to go without make-up because she didn’t want to cover up the person God had created her to be. Such wisdom doesn’t usually appear in someone so young, but it is refreshing. Don’t get me wrong, make-up is great and when used properly, it can enhance your natural beauty, but when the only product we use is concealer, we’re masking the person God created us to be.

When I think of make-up, I think of women wearing blush and mascara, but men and women alike put on spiritual make-up, where they attempt to conceal, therefore masking, their imperfections. Maybe a man who is insecure will mask that by bullying others, or maybe a woman is envious of others and will mask that by overspending to keep up with the Jones’.

Even though a lot of women don’t like going without make-up, most skincare regimens will stress the importance of cleaning your face and removing your make-up on a daily basis. Removing our masks and revealing who we really are can be scary, but it is necessary if we want to experience a REAL transformation. God cannot heal what you won’t reveal, so come clean and lose the masks, recognizing that His covering is the only make-up you’ll ever need.

1 Peter 3:3-4 says, “Do not let your adorning be external, but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.”
